First im new to this fourm.
What is up with the new cases? Why is Dell changeing cases? The new cases are the uglyest cases i have ever seen in my entire life and thats not a opion that is a fact . But anyway if a customer wants can he/she choose the old style case the back and grey? Also what about a floppy drive? My friend paid $1,500 for a Dell and it came with no floppy drive. Whats up with that? The paper said none selected. Well $1,500 it should have came with one. One more question. The Dell printer. Lexmark makes it right? Dell puts there name on it? I was at OfficeMax i saw refill cartridges that said they work with Lexmarx and Dell. That means a Lexmark cartridge will work with a Dell it has to. I was told only Dell cartridges can be used. I would buy a Dell myself built if i got a good dealm on one. I currently have a Gateway. Well i took the motherboard out and put in another case because there was no more bays for a secound drive. OH NO DON'T TELL GATEWAY I PUT THE MOTHERBOARD IN ANOTHER CASE I VOIDED THE WARRENTY . But anyway the OEM'S seem to use cheap parts. This Gateway has a Western Digital 40 Gig drive. Its the third drive. The orginal drive died then the next drive want waco (Kinda like me) Now im on my third drive and sometimes it acs waco (Like me) I had another computer before this one i bought a 40 gig drive from OfficeMax. Guess what? That drive died also i had to get replacement from Western Digital. Western Digital must make bad drives. But as far as Dell if i bought one it would have to have a floppy drive because i got diagnostic software on floppy. Yes i could make a bootable CD with the program. But why waste a whole 700 Mb CD on a program thats less than 1.44 Mb? The only reason i got this Gateway with no room was it only cost me $100.00 i got it from a friend its a P4 1.8 256 Mb ram. Im hopeing to get a new better motherboard with more PCI slots and a AGP slot. I will use this P4 1.8 on ituntil i can buy a faster one. Also i can use the same ram. Any ideas on good motherboards? Hey is doese anyone know of anymore OEM bashing sites? I know there is.
http://www.compaqsucks.com and there is a fourm there but not as active as this one. |

Welcome to the forum Floppy_Drive
You can't choose the case.
Dell thinks that floppy drives are old. The paper said no floppy drive selected cause you didn't tell to the Dell Home Sales rep that you wanted one or you didn't click on it when you were placing the order on line. If you want one, call Dell Electronics & Accesories Sales or Dell Spare Parts and order one for just $40 Go to a local store, it will be cheaper, and is very easy to install.
Yes, Dell printers are made Lexmark. In order to use Lexmark cartridges you'll have to make a little modification to the printer. Look for it in the Computer Help section. _________________ I see DELL people!!

Ha ha ha for $1,500 i should have came with one. plain and simple. It DOESE NOT COST DELL MONEY to get floppy drives. A local shop where i live they build their computers they still use floppy drives and theres only cost $20.00. Looks like dell jacks there prices up like the gas disturbiters are jacking gas prices. _________________ Yes i would buy another Dell. Its not the stupid machine. Its the tech support thats so bad. Well Dell won't give it to you unless you specifically request it. And if you do, the price won't be $1500, it would be $1540.
Down here you can purchase a Sony floppy drive for US $7... _________________ I see DELL people!!

We were told in a "Town Hall" meeting that it was because of customer demand for White chasis systems. So if customers demanded that Michael Dell personally hand deliver their systems to them buck naked, would this happen as well _________________ Q: How do you know Dell Management is lying to you?

ROFLMAO!!!!
Apathy, I must say, you are quite the comedian....
FD, We were told the same thing in regard to the case issue but I've also hear such was done as other companies had changed case color.
As far as do you have a choice of case color, you can still order some systems in grey/black, but they won't have the same configuration as the new white ones.
I hope this helps _________________ Practice what you preach. |

someone probably had a deal on white cases, so Dell bought them out so they could have cheaper computers.
And the floppy drive issue was done before.
