Recently, Dell hired about a hundred employees for WS-1 in North Carolina. Dell offered second shift employment with a shift differential wage included. After three days in training, about 40 of the 100 who were hired permanent Dell employees were told they'd be going on first shift. So, they lost their shift differential. Also, they'd be getting up at three in the morning to get to work instead of one in the afternoon. What a bunch of mother fuck... at Dell. Bait and switch. I hate Dell. I hate Dell's management. I can't believe there is a website dedicated to hating Dell. As a new employee, I know why people hate Dell. This company is the most unethical I've EVER worked for. The only reason there was a mass hiring of people at Dell Inc. was because they were required by the contract they signed with the city and state of North Carolina. In order to retain the tax breaks and upfront payment they received, they had to have X amount of employees by the first of the year.

For all those who haven't figured it out yet. Dell WILL be selling their facility in Winston-Salem to Foxconn. The plan is to outsource the assembly ( production facility ). I guess this makes sense because the ENTIRE computer is Vendor Managed Inventory for Dell. Meaning, they don't actually manufacture any portion of what they sell. Although, if Dell thinks it can just be an Engineering Design and Marketing company. They will see that too many middle men will affect customer response time. Acutually, I'd rather work for the Chinese than Dell any day.

Don't buy Dell anymore. I see the poor quality. I can't believe I left my previous job to be manipulated by these scum suckers.

Also, the management at dell is completely, autocratic. They threaten you in training and until the day you leave with your job. Their moto, if you don't like it you can leave. Their is NO effort to retain employees. Hey, I get it, Dell wants high turnover for their unskilled labor. Michael Dell, just sell the production facility to the Chinese already. You're a communist.

Work for Chinese, maybe. Work for Foxconn? I don't think so. I knew a guy who did and it was the worst experience of his life, including Dell.

You misspoke in one place. Dell performs no engineering, with the possible exception of Enterprise (servers). Dell is simply the real-estate-less version of Walmart. Oh, except Walmart house brand stuff is acceptable, whereas Dell's is not.
