I have an Inspiron 6000 Notebook that has had strange problems with it since I purchased it.
First it started with the monitor not coming out of hibernation mode. Then it started to just go all black. Dells tech support had me update drivers, update bios and last ditch effort was to reinstall windows. It seemed to stop for a while.
Then it started again. Black screen. Then the screen went all blue. Then the screen went all pink. Its like it just freezes. There are no error codes and everything shows up as working properly. Now the computers speakers sometimes make weird screetching noises. At one point the CD Burner would just go around and around and wouldn't read the CD's.
If I hook up an external monitor when it does this nothing comes through. If I hit Fn + F8 6 -10 times when the screen goes all pink, all blue or all black. The screen will eventually work.
This thing has 4 months left under warranty. Dell tech support has been useless as every time I call they want me to do the same thing over and over again.
The laptop is used on my desktop (in other words I don't move it around so no damage has occured ), not affected by recent recall on batteries (although it gets REALLY hot when I run it using the batteries, but my battery pack is not listed on the site), the problems started prior to any additional software being installed, I have scanned numerous times for spyware/virus type stuff the computer is clean.
I am running Windows Media Center Service Pack 2 (all updates have been completed). The graphics are integrated with Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family. 1.6 Pentium M. 512 mb memory.

Sounds like an issue with the video card/motherboard if the vid card is integrated. Something you could do is tell them the computer will not turn on at all. When they walk you through the troubleshooting, pretend to do the stuff, but never turn the system on. Just keep telling them that the computer will not turn on. No matter what you do, get them to replace the motherboard. Also, if you are still having problems, don't hesitate to call back. Get them to replace at least 3 parts for this issue and they may eventually replace the system, although it will be with a refurbished system.
