This intrigued me, so I did a test. It's true. Wikipedia removes any reference to ihateDell.net from their articlle on Dell. They claim it is "spamming" this site. When I challenged that this was a bona fide site for complaints from Dell customers, they countered that this site doesn't rate high enough in Alexa and it is only a forum. So what?
If they do not like what you say, it’s deleted.
If you restore it, they remove it again.
Restore it again and they remove it again and so forth until a volunteer “administrator blocks you from further edits. Usually the administrator is elected and cozy with those you are opposing so if you do not belong to any clique or manufacture your own little “fiefdom” you are screwed, which is what happened to me.
That would be okay if they were calling themselves a Blog site, but they are calling themselves an “encyclopedia” even though one does not need any particular education, experience, expertise in any field, or writing skills to be an “editor”.
So much for the free exchange of ideas and freedom of speech. |
