Hey has anyone else seen dells "get more out of now" slogan? The advertising manager must have been on a drinking spree when he thought of that. I recommend a change to "get more "hell" out of now. Anyone with me? Take their tech support for this one. Oh you have a virus? hmm your going to need all new RAM, Hard drive, and not to mention your disc drive is fried. You can pay 500 smacks to get it fixed or you can always buy another Dell from hell _________________ Dell SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Wrong analogy...
Dell Technical Support won't assist you if you have a virus. It's not Dell's fault if your computer gets infected.
Good point though, I agree with you. _________________ I see DELL people!!

Nice. Anyone seen anything like this with dell? http://www.microsuck.com/images/sucks_billboard.jpg
Of course, there are those magic viruses that somehow manage to install themselves on a unit of ram - which by definition can only tore stuff when its powered - oh, yeah, and there are those one's that if left untreated can move to your power supply, and from there infect all kinds of things... TV, Fridge... so either pay £1000 to dell, or live in a tvless foodless world. Damn, i'd pay, wouldn't you? |

I dont have anything against windows xp or xp pro. I use both of them and encounter very little problems, most of software. The one thing i dont like about it is the fact that it wants to control everything on your computer to an extent in which seems unessecary. _________________ Dell SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

to be honest, other than the fact ITS CRAP the main problem i have with windows is that its taken all skill out of computers - how can anyone ever expect something to work well for them if they don't know how a computer works? i mean, most windows users don't even know what a command prompt is (one of my friends once said to me "wow, you're using that black screen thingy, whenever we get the black screen thingy it means our computer's broken"). I reiterate... how can any one ever respect of learn to use computers properly when all they know how to do is click buttons. _________________ You're depriving a village somewhere of an idiot...

Yes i agree on that, most people dont even know the basics of how a computer runs, and windows makes it too easy for them. The problem is that if windows fails then the user doesnt know how to fix it because he didnt learn to begin with becasue windows made it too easy. _________________ Dell SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Thats my main argument. Then of course, there are all the other small things - for example, if Microsoft writes a patch for a security problem, apparently (though i'm not sure) they have a list of people who pay to get these patches before they're released to the public - maybe one or two weeks before. Now, thats all very well if you're a bank, or a government... but as even individuals can buy this service, it must be so easy for someone to buy a patch before its publicly released, and reverse engineer it to let him get into the millions of computers that haven't had a chance to be protected yet. Also, they've stopped producing new patches for 98 and below, and are only producing critical patches for 2K. That seems wrong. People pay microsoft a massive amount of money for an operating system (£100?! there's probably more complicated programming in a £30 video game.), and they thought they were paying for a fully operating os. When they find they have to download patches for it... well, at least microsoft's doing something to help them... but when they can't even download patches, microsoft's basically saying 'fuck you, you haven't given us money in 6 years, why should we help you?'.
Sorry if i ranted a bit... i really feel strongly about this... _________________ You're depriving a village somewhere of an idiot...

Security holes isn't Microshaft's worst engineering blunder--you'll love this:
Why does Windows lockup and have to be restarted after a certain number of operations? It's referred to as 'memory leak'. When an application closes, Windows is supposed to 'release' the memory that application was using. But it doesn't, entirely. As this unreleased memory adds up, first the system slows as it has to revert to 'swapping', then it hits a brick wall and stops responding.
The reason? A typo in the code. I know test engineers who have had to figure this out, so they could separate Windows' lockups from lockups possibly caused by what they were testing. Microshaft is well aware of this problem. They sent the engineer who identified it a coffee mug. But they won't fix it. And it gets worse. The typo appears in the programming language C++, so any program written in C++ has the same bug built into it.
Want your stuff to work? Don't use Microshaft. Like I wrote in an earlier post, UNIX was commissioned as the operating system for telephone switchgear. If the phone system ran on Microshaft, it would take an army of techs the size of the population of New Jersey constantly resetting servers to keep it running. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Holy shit i never thoght about somone being able to buy a patch and reverse it, somone can fuck up government agencies, banks, law offices and worse. That is a very good point. Microsuck better hope that no banks figure out that can happen, you smell that? i smell a lawsuit coming. _________________ Dell SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Well, I'd say that banks and goverment are the first ones who get those patches.
What Neb meant is that a regular guy can purchase it and use that loopwhole to hack other computers which are waiting for the patch. _________________ I see DELL people!!

Um... yeah, you'd imagine organisations as big as governments or banks would be provided with the best service... _________________ You're depriving a village somewhere of an idiot...
