Does anyone have a fax number for Dell Finanical services??
I needed a new laptop and through my employeer I could get a discount of 7% from dell. So I ordered a new one, and in the process the website said I could save an additional 4% with a preferred customer account with instant approval 0% financing for 12%. So I applied. The screen said the application needed further review.. Ok I wait around 3 days, I get an email stately that the application was denied and to call a certain number.
I called that number, which turned out to be a sales number. I explained that I wanted to find out why I was denied credit, put on hold, tranferred to "correct dept". This Eric person told me he did not see a reason for the denial, back on hold. He comes back, his supervisor did not see anything either. Back on hold... his supervisor will expidate the issue and I will have an email within 24 hours..The next day I check the status of my order-CANCELLED due to lack of financing. So I order a another laptop this time putting it on a credit card. About 2 days later I receive another email from Dell telling me again that my application was denied and my order was cancelled. It also stated that my order would stay in the computer for 3 days after the inital order so that I could still get any special pricing etc. Well I received this email a full week after I ordered the 1st laptop... I sent Dell an email requesting information on why I was denied credit for a $500 computer. Nothing. I sent a 2nd email still nothing. I sent a letter to the address in Dell financial services about 2 weeks ago, still nothing. It has been over a month, and no one at Dell can or will tell me why I was denied credit.
After hearing horror stories about dealing with DFS, so I am glad I was denied. It would not be such a big deal except that I need to apply for a car loan within the next few months and would like to know the reason for denial of a $500 account. I pay off my credit card balances almost every month, no loans, never late on payments. I know by law they have to inform me in writting the reason for denial however, they seem to ignore that fact.
Any ideas on how to get Dell to comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act?? |

Like you said, you should be glad your dealings with Dell stopped there, seems like there's divine intervention in your case. don't get sucked in by the promised "savings"...you'll spend more down the road (including expenses incurred when seeking for repairs, etc.)
I have no real knowledge how their credit investigation works, but it's supposed to be instantaneous. When I worked there more than a year ago, I would ask the customer about his/her info and Social security and click on a button to see if he/she would be approved. After about a few seconds there would be an answer. I would say it's electronically processed. Eenie Meenie Miney Moe. In other words, their system is dumb. _________________ di·lap·i·dat·ed

You dodged a bullet and an artillery shell. The bullet is a hollowpoint 45, getting a Dell laughtop delivered. The artillery shell is a Howitzer, getting mixed up with Dell Financial.
The way to get Dell to follow laws is for your state attorney general to sue them like New York, and a class action of many states, did. Then they go right back to what they were doing when you're not looking any more.
Nevermind claims of discounts and 0%. That right there is probably why you were denied. There are countless records here of people ordering discounted items from Dell, from peripherals to entire systems, only to have them indefinitely delayed or outright cancelled.
Begin to get the picture? The only way to save money on a computer is NOT to even LOOK at Dell. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist

Consider it a blessing that Dhell denied you credit and that you didn't get a Dhell. It's not worth the headaches. _________________ Former employee of Dell and can say that they

I beg to disagree. Dell offers good products like the laptop and desktop computers. They're the best in terms of quality of their products but I don't think with their customer service.

| Stay away from Dell Financial Services. If you can't pay cash upfront or on another credit card, you're just asking for trouble with DFS. In my opinion. |

After paying my bill on time for over a year I recently received a letter closing my account for no reason.
I have had my account with Dell for over a year. All payments have been made on time yet I receive a letter saying the account has been closed. In part the letter states, "In evaluating your Account, the consumer reporting agency listed below (Experian) provided information to us that in whole or part influenced our decision."
I am wondering if anyone else has ever received a letter like this. I stress again that I have never made any late payments with them. Why would they close the account? I have contacted 1 supervisor & 2 managers and they said I have to contact the credit reporting agency. How does that make any sense? If I have good standing with Dell how did Experian get involved? Dell would of had to have reported me to the credit bureau but for what? I'm going to report them to the BBB. |

Although you may not realise it now, DHell did you a favour by closing your account. While I worked there, I received many calls from customers who reported orders placed on their accounts that they didn't authorise and experienced nothing but stonewalling in trying to get the charges reversed after the products were returned. Customers have even had "dingers" on their credit rating because of DHell Financing refusing to rescind the charges stemming from unauthorised returned merchandise. _________________ Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia. |
