Dell Inc. launched its Visionary Award program, an initiative that will reward innovative primary school teachers with up to $250,000 for ideas that best mix technology and education.

The program, backed by Dell and Microsoft Corp., will accept essays from teachers and K-12 administrators that detail how technology can improve education and prepare students for the future. The companies will give $1 million in technology and services to the winners' schools.

The winners will be announced in early 2006.
