|
|
I am an employee in the Dell sales site in McGregor Texas and we have been hearing a lot of rumors about our site closing, probably in the next few weeks.
Is anybody from the Roseburg site on that could tell me what happened at your building prior to the site closing. Also, when they did close the site, did they give you a decent package?
For the first time in three years our entire building is going to be working a Monday-Firday 10:00am to 7:00pm schedule. Also a lot of the Coaches and Managers are getting promoted to positions in Round Rock (starting Monday).
I was just wondering if someone has any insight as to what was happening prior to it closing and if the severence package is worth waiting on or is it better to jump ship now?
Thanks |

Alright dont go nowhere.... NOWHERE... let them shut the site, they will give you two months pay two months of cobra payments, then a small 1 week pay for every year, you can get unemployment right away... and in Oregon we're all going back to school and still getting unemployment with the TUI.
Take them for everything you can get!
goodluck! |

Our closure was at the end of the fiscal month....... some key things to look for....did an email go out about "missing' items needing to be returned to the demo lab? Clearing out prize inventory,.....Any higher ups, or there close friends moods change? & some of them doing some drastic random cleaning of their cubes? The site wide meeting is a bit alarming....don't worry though..it only lasts about 7 min....Tell Fink..(or Frink..LOL) we say HI........
You will also start to see A LOT of suits that you haven't seen before....
& don't let them send you your things.....it didn't work out well in the Burg AT ALL..... |

Ok lets see, first off they change our schedule from 7 days a week to five, then 5 of our managers including asms are in roundrock applying for positions. Next both ATG, and SMB interview on the same day at mcg. Now i get an email stating that asms are going to be running huddles every day at 945 in the morning. I talk to hr and they say not to worry its just rumors is it just me or this signs of a company closing. |

Start looking for something else now. Sources in RR tell me that the layoffs are not over yet (even at the RR campus). _________________ Q: How do you know Dell Management is lying to you?

So I cleaned out all of my stuff and I am ready to go, I just wish they would do it sooner rather than later.
The worst part is knowing that it is coming and having to wait for it. It is very hard to get on the phone with customers and pretend that I care now, knowing that in a week I probably won't even be there.
The meeting on Monday is actually two meetings. One will be downstairs with all of the New Que Reps and one upstairs will everybody else. This makes sense as the New Que reps have all been employeed less then 6 months and probably would not get the same severance package. The meeting upstairs will include Premium Que, Gold Que, SOAR, and the XPS Chat which is all the senior reps.
That is the way that I would do it. I am pretty sure that Monday is the day. The call volume is way too light right now. When you look at the big boards, if you took all of the Waco Agents off of the phones the other Call Centers will still be waiting on phone calls.
We will have to wait and see. Hopefully they at least bring Donuts. |

Where can I get more information about this? It would be awesome if I could go to school for a year on Dell. |

You should remain low key until the axe man choppeth. If they fire you (for cleaning out your desk, starting 'false' rumours, etc..) you will loose the 10K or so package. Also, you are in Texas and it is much different there. I searched google.com for Texas Unemployment and got the link http://www.twc.state.tx.us/ and when I searched for TUI - which means Training Unemployment Income, I get no results. Welcome to Texas- hoem of the Texacutioner who is the apointed prez of the United States. _________________ I was burned out and didnt mean to prank call customers from work. I am sorry. |

I am keeping low key, well other than posting here, I just didnt' want my stuff to be mailed to me. Roseburg said it didn't go to well.
I was not able to see anything about Unemployment Training on the TX sites either, I just didn't know if it was some other program I was missing.
I will keep you guys posted. Thanks |

One of the questions you have to answer for Texas Unemployment relates to training. If I'm not mistaken that is because you can't receive unemployment compensation for time you spent in training. I'm not expert but wouldn't count on that happening in Texas. |

Oh look. It's Monday, and we're all still here.
Seriously, Falberta (and any other McG reps reading...) the gloom and doom Chicken Little thing is getting old. I'm going to laugh as every one of the "sure thing dates" passes, just like I did this morning.
Say, ever heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy? Because I've seen what the gossip-heads intraday numbers look like, and it ain't good. Me, I don't give a crap about the rumors. Don't know if any of them are true, and if they are, the only thing I can do to change it is to perform. Excuse the touchy feely shit, but if it does close, I'll at least take satisfaction knowing I TRIED. And when I fight for each and every sale, I'm not just doing it for me. I'm doing it for you, Falberta, and your job.
Less dramatizing every single thing and more focusing on what we're here to do. Then we wouldn't have to worry.
That's all I'm saying. |

| Roseburg was closed down on a Thursday, after some had already taken calls. It is the fiscal month thingy. You will be paid at 100% commision so they wanna get the time from you. Roseburg had a 'dry run' - a meeting that was called on a Monday for the entire floor- and then cancelled. As Pigman and Barr-TEE said, "It makes good business sense to close Waco since Round Rock is so close. We are going to have super call centers, just like HP does." |

Not really "In the know," are you? Even the McG people screaming that the sky is falling know that is true. Scroll down to the 6/26/07 entry.
