Darth, I backed away from this company when they told me that they wanted me to keep up a huge insurance policy to cover THEIR obligations to the customer. I suspected the payment issues might be the case, as I'd tried this route, before, with Rollouts, Inc, and it literally took 3 years to finally get them to pay me for the one job I did for them. The remote manager they assigned me kept stalling me, over and over, until I contacted the HQ. Captovis reminded me of Rollouts, except worse...
"Hey, there- we're going to contract to have services provided for our customers, and all we're going to pay for is having a phone, website, and 2 guys to answer the phone- between you and the customer, you'll bear the rest of the total expense burden for the transaction. But we PROMISE to pay you in a timely manner. Maybe. If we don't spend it all on a bus tour to Metropolis. Or a new SUV. How does that sound to you, fella?"

FYI, we've been contacted by Captovis to run a service call. I told the rep about this thread, and requested immediate payment by credit card, which he is going to do.
How are others faring with Captovis lately? I don't think it's unreasonable to be paid on the 15th of each month, but I better be paid!
We've had good luck with SalesForce, FWIW. |

I have been working for Captovis since Nov 2007. i have been paid for every work order I have serviced thru 04/05/2008. Their "go to" guy for support is great. His name is Mike, and really works with the techs to get things accomplished and the support staff internally is awesome.
I wouldnt know or understand why someone wouldn't get paid by them. It is always possible in our industry and line of work, however to date, as I said, I have been paid in full thru 04/05/2008 |

I have consulted an attorney and if I am not paid this month, I will begin filing papers for mechanical lien on each and every piece of equipment I have serviced. Someone is going to pay me whether it's Captovis or the customer. |
Any feedback on how this went? _________________ chuck

Hey kurtray
I have been working for captovis since nov 2007 and have been paid for all work orders that were warranted. I have had a couple to cancel, but that was the customer canceling and not captovis. _________________ chuck

I have found that if you call and speak with Mary, she will work with you. _________________ chuck

Hey all,
I joined with Captovis about 6 months ago. I am self employed and thought it would be a good way to earn some extra cash throughout the day. The contract was pretty straightforward, and no upfront costs of any kind were required. In fact, I have never paid a dime. The contract didn't require anything ridiculous. And as far as insurance, in my opinion, you should have it if you are running your own business/self employed. The only thing Captovis requred from us was an EIN, proof of insurance, drivers license, and any certifications. All of which was easily provided to them.
I have only received 4 calls from them. The first call was a fixed rate of $75.00 and the other 3 were based on my rates I specified in the account manager. All of my work orderes completed have been paid out except for one. (I still havn't uploaded the completed work order) The process may be different for everyone, but Captovis said they send out checks the 15th of every month. The services calls ranged from Plasma/LCD/DLP repair to desktop support issues. All but one of the calls was pre-diagnosed, which isn't an issue if you know what you are doing.
So far, everything seems legit, and I have had no problems what so ever.
As mentioned in a previous post, they do seem like a smaller company and Mary is indeed very helpful when you run into any problems.
I just wish they had more calls, but hey, I can't complain. |

Well it looks as though Barrister has lost their major business with HP Contract. No more laptop/desktop break fix repairs in over a month.
I heard it was coming and looks as though it has come to past. _________________ chuck

EIN's are not needed for contractors though. I perform a ton of work with them, but EIN's are only needed on your part when paying straight employees. _________________ chuck

| I have and getting paid is a challenge. They expect you to work for 45 days without being paid. Make sure your rates are set high enough to make up for following behind someone that diagnosed the problem entirely wrong, example HP 2840 carousel replacement ( wrongly diagnosed) takes several hrs but you are paid your flat rate (perhaps 40.00). |

| I have had nothing paid and have work orders signed starting June/july I received nothing the 15th or 30th and going on 45 days I have written Mary about it ( she quotes when you are to be paid but does nothing to help you get paid). I have about 13 work orders unpaid. I am sending a copy of this from http://www.ihatedell.net/forum/phpBB2/posting,mode,reply,t,7093.html so Mary can look up all the problems with their company. |

Dell pays its vendors on a net-45 to net-90 basis, to collect the interest, and because stalling is just something Dell does--it's always in their favor.
Their repair contractors are shysters, skimming off the work of others. They invest absolutely nothing, rent a desk, chair, computer, and 300 sq ft in a stripmall. Their only outlays are rent and utilities, and an unskilled office clerk to shuffle paperwork. Real honorable business. Perfect match for Dell. They stall their subcontractors until Dell pays them. It's not going to change, no matter how good Mary's intentions are. _________________ Rocke T Sinetist
