Yeah, and if your hard drive crashes tomorrow, that would be funny because you refused to back up your data today. Fail Maxtor Fail. you can do it. |
the only data i have is music.. lots of music..now how do i save all of it and be able to put it back on? short of several hundred cds? if this damn thing would work like it was suppose to i wouldnt have this problem. the problem is i bought a dell!! thats the problem. their customer service sucks! their techs suck! and their foreign countries suck! |

| go out and get external HDD. Believe me, you might want to learn the art of backing up your stuff. I had to be the bearer of bad news when I had to tell customers at my shop that their harddrive is gone. And so is gone are their 2 years of baby pictures. But hey, you didn't want to back it up. |

Yeah, when I worked in Consumer support, had to tell 3 or 4 people that a day. thanks to the brilliant engineering of a maxtor calypso hard drive. those are the biggest piles out there. but yeah, drfever, you have 3 choices, either don't back up, burn a lot of cds or 1/7 of that amount on dvds, or buy an ext. hard drive.
Sure you can piss and moan about the crap that is dell, but truth is, if you don't want to say good bye forever to those songs, back up, so you have one less thing to worry about when the Maxtor goes the way of the dell.
Again, about the stupid nic port. just go buy a freakin pci nic card. they cost 10 bucks. If that works in the computer, it proves that the motherboard is bad. not that the Indians will understand what you did, but at least you can get online.
You really have to get creative when dealing with those idiots, and im sorry, i know they are very smart in some way or other, however, they don't understand basic troubleshooting concepts, and that's the worst part of the experience. Back to the first sentence. They are reading from a script. the script for the page cannot be displayed issue takes about an hour if you follow every step. another hour for the interpretation between the tech and you and another 125 bucks for a spyware call before you are refunded your money and sent back to hardware support for a new motherboard. Or, you can do the reinstall (whether you fake go along or do the real thing), quit yer bitchin and get your new motherboard. however you want to do it, fine, but quit coming on here, looking for answers and not following the advice.
This is a message from the Maxtor Emergency Broadcast System. This is only a test
(BACK UP YOUR DATA. THIS GOES TO EVERYONE OUT THERE. I REPEAT, BACK UP YOUR DATA. )
This has been a test of the MEBS. _________________ Have you seen my dell laptop?

That is why they can't come to you! they are in fucking india, they can't come from overseas to help you. you need to call someone in america or buy a new card and install it. |

shaftdu? how would a simple ping mess up windows?
I would say you had a lot more going on before you pinged the loopback address...
just thought I'd point that out.. Just helping the other guy's credibility lol _________________ Money is the root of all evil.
