Ya, I've lost ALOT of faith in Dell this past week.

I reinstalled windows and got all of the drivers and everything taken care of, but it doesn't seem the same. And its only 6 months old. Its a 3 grand XPS2 Laptop.

I called and complained numerous times, but to no avail.

Dell has a crap trade-in/upgrade program and should burn in hell.

But this is the first major problem I've had.

New Dell or Mac???

Welcome, Andy. What caused the reinstall?

New Sony or Toshiba? They top reliability surveys, and haven't been called on the carpet for outsourcing their US tech support to non-English-speaking countries.

The reinstall was my own stupididty.

And probably no sony or toshiba because I want a laptop and it needs to play games.

Dell is like my only choice...

Would calling and saying I'm getting a lawyer scare them at all?

Or anything I can do about trade in?

Sony and Toshiba are not available in gaming configuration? I wouldn't know.

No, saying you're getting a lawyer would probably get you hung-up upon. Dell has more lawyers than the Catholic Church.

Dell has no trade-in program.

In what way is the reinstall "not the same" as the original image?

That dell won't let me trade in my 5 month old XPS2 that cost over 3000 dollars for a new one.

I want a new laptop...but they won't comply

Not to defend Dell, but could you trade in a car after 5 months for a new one? Especially after you did something that was your fault.

Yeh, I felt that way when my garbage disposer started pumping its contents into the cabinet under the sink. We get dependent upon technology all too readily.

Laboratory images, calibrated for their predictable performance, get eaten by faulty systems from time to time. It pisses me the f**k off when it happens, but only because it takes two hours that I needed to spend on something else to rebuild them.

You setup the original image. So setup the reinstalled image. Understand how fortunate you are... your hardware is NOT broken and you DON'T have to deal with Dell to get where you're going!

If your comfort zone is totally violated by a reinstalled WXP image, you owe yourself a USB-harddrive backup for the contents of your internal drive.

And am I the only one that actually likes a computer when it comes straight from the manufacturer?

There is a reason Dell puts all that stuff on it. For ME to be happy.

Pardon my French, but shit. It takes me a half hour to remove or disable most of the rubbish Dell puts on there. Guess what? It slows down gaming by up to 40%. Shocked

Back up your files and reinstall the OS again. Pay a tech to do it and stop whining cause you are wrong.

No trades by any kind can be done at Dell.

Yeah all the extras Dell puts on your system is absolutely worthless. Its just another way for them to make money, not to help you out. Not to attack you but if you like those things, your the exact type of sucker that Dell wants and will get to call into Dell On Call and waste $100 on something you could just find on your own using Google.
