High probability here ladies and gentlemen because Michael has already prepped the press for this one. This may be the biggest layoff in Dell herstory. Heads or tails?

It's a sucker bet. It's like asking to bet AGAINST the doped up horse, or the fighter that agreed to lay down.

Publicly-documented layoffs, like the one that got me in 2001? I dunno. They've gotten a lot more surreptitious and devious since then.

In my opinion, Dell tends to automate our services when economic advantages are available. According to a high echelon source, (including myself) it appears the cutbacks should actually be taking place in the next few days, obviously outside of media recognition by completing over the next weeks.

Sorry, the bad news is only positive for Dell. Dell plans to retake some of the older, less overhead cost, models from the origins of the company. It appears to be better than our last CEO, who was just a temporary replacement.

Good luck to those who are able to benefit from this, I am not sure about the exact numbers, but it looks to be an educated guess, I would say.

Thanks,

Carlos

What's interesting is that D3 / C1 managers are not even part of the RIFF decision in some cases. You have "execs" making calls as to who is walked - they don't even know what some of these people are doing for a living.

Yet - I will say again - Mike continues to bring in MBAs and Interns at high salaries. Did you know MBA's are brought in at a C2 (sometimes a C3) level - yielded salaries in the $80k range? These youngsters don't have a clue how business works - they create (or try to create) strategies and ideas for Dell, yet Dell doesn't have the IT resources or structure to make these ideas work..

Dell is trickling people out - hoping to stay under the radar... 5000 is a conservative estimate.

Major layoffs coming before the end of month. Greater than 5000 people is what I have been told. Round Rock may be hit hard. Desktop support is not as safe as laptop

RR is still pretty sprawling, so I suspected that they may be trimmed even further. It'll be interesting to see when/how these rumors pan out.

This shows real business sense.........the business in going down the tubes so lets cut the work force thus cut costs. Well MD you couldn't make it work with the employee's you have how the hell are you going to make it without them? Seems to be someone should take some Business Management Courses.

If you were let go today in RR - we want to hear how bad it was - we are hearing bits and pieces - or was it major carnage?

The carnage was not that bad as of today. Maybe 20 people were axed today. I believe Dell is trying to rush the job cuts so they can say something to the Wall Street Analysts about how their so called improvement plan is coming along. I think their will be job cuts almost everyday of the week up until the EOQ.

The layoffs this QTR are not done - more next week...
Prepare for a fun ride... locations unsure - however, my source reveals RR is not done. So to answer a previous post about RR... yes you will be hit - if not already...

Anyone Else hearing of any particular locations?

If I was a betting man, which I am, I'd say Ottawa will have a chunk.
