The "official" word from Dell management is that TMC will be closed on December 31st. The "unofficial" word going around the rumor mill is September or October at the latest. Also the sixty day notice for severance packages started going out earlier this week and will snowball in July or August. _________________ Q: How do you know Dell Management is lying to you?
A: Until proven otherwise, Assume EVERYTHING coming from Dell Management is a lie. |

What I have been told about those - they are severance packages - I wish I could jump that counter and see if my name is on them so I can close this chapter... _________________ Released in 2008! |

| I have heard rumors that 50% of the Round Rock campus is getting the ax and they are moving the jobs to cheaper sites. That is only a rumor but it is interesting. |

On Tues May 20, 2008 6:49 pm - I had posted in this thread...

Hearing this from you, I will now reveal what I had heard a week or so ago... I had heard it was more like 60%. Which leads me to believe hearing 50% brings what I heard to some truth... Some say its just rumors - but at Dell Rumors usually become truths...
In light of that note - I also heard by mid June... from fairly reliable sources... _________________ Released in 2008! |

I will start to ask around a bit and see what I can find out. If I hear anything at all I will post it here ASAP.
I heard about the 50% reduction from to entirely different sources. |

The Round Rock campus has many different groups (divisions) which include tech support, Engineering, Corp and I'm sure may others. When you say 50% of the "RR campus" are the rumors for a particular area or spread through out the campus? A lot of the groups have lost jobs to oversees over the years, it will be interesting to see how many more jobs are lost in RR and which groups will be spared.
Best of luck to everyone! |

Again, this is just a rumor.
My feeling is that all buildings and departments will be hit. I have no idea who they would need to keep in Round Rock. |

| The source I depended upon was fired a week ago. I dont haveanything further, and the terms of their separation was fairly lucrative, so they wont even answer my emails. I would be the same way if it were me. Sorry. I would expect deep cuts in anything sold or serviced over the telephone. They save money by selling in retail. |

I still have an outside & two inside sources which they are saying the same things - another round coming... one inside says 60% hit in Round Rock and the other says Finance is gonna get hit in mid June... my outside source says another big round is coming - but no details... I will ask these sources again for further details without sounding like I am trying to get details... _________________ Released in 2008! |

I believe the executives are thinking we need to save more money.
The ICP payout typically comes at the end of September.
What they will likely do is lay people off before the bonus so the people just get the severance and they don't have to pay the bonus to them.
Between now and the end of July, August time frame I believe we will see the remainder of the layoffs.
After they finish the layoffs they will tell everyone they are pretty much done and then they will bump up the ICP payout to try to bring up moral.
Also the Tell Dell Survey comes out at the end of this month. It will be interesting to see. |

| In Ottawa, they have been very good about giving bonuses with the pink slip. It was my first bonus ever .... obviously I was doing something right. |

| They got bonus payouts in Edmonton as well. Perhaps the laws regarding final pay are different across the border? |

| Well no real news yet but I did get a phone call from a friend who works for a partner company. He said that they have been told to prepare for big changes in Dell's Round Rock campus. |
