Wont be any till end of August. Michael Dell is only 5 levels above me and he told me "No more layoffs this season" Your jobs are safe. Go ahead and buy that new car or sign on a new house, its good for the economy. Let your Dell dollars flow- make my boss proud. Your job is safe for at least the next 15 years.

Someone has a signature... and "How Do you know when Dell Management is lying? They open their mouths... Wink

On another note... a source is telling me there will be some type of organizational announcement by Thursday... Yea I know... Dell is always having Organizational announcements... but the source would not go into it and they seemed uneasy when I probed ...

Life at hDell - Uneasy and changing....

Dell reports their earnings on Thursday. Maybe Dell is trying to notify their employees of any organizational changes because they are going to talk about them in the quarterly report. We will just have to wait and see.

It stands to reason that this coming week will be "the week" because Tell Dell is over, quarterly reports come out and it has been one year since layoffs were announced.

I have nothing more than a "gut feeling" to go on but it seems logical.

As usual, we will just have to wait and see if I am wrong, if I am, It won’t be the first time. Confused

With MD announcing that the 10% is going to be exceeded and they still aren't close enough to back off yet, I'd anticipate that the cuts will still be coming.

True- it is interesting that its been greater than 1 years since they made the 8800 announcement and to date they only let go about 3200 people - maybe more, but you have to consider they have been hiring too... and they said earlier this year that the amount would be greater than the 8800 previously announced, consider this...
[Speculation - no facts - just looking at several puzzle pices...]
Could Dell be getting out of the consumer arena altogether and selling the Consumer division to a third party investor / off shore company is in the works? Or has already been completed?...
Therfore, you don't have to lay off people, their employment transfers to the buyer and let the new employer make the lay off choice and corporate location choice - offshore...
Again, thats me just speculating as to what the next few weeks could pan out...

We will wait and see if there is any movement of those "Large boxes of employee files" next week - keep us aprised those that are in RR if you see movement of the the boxes...

I believe Padawan's comments could be right on the money. You never know with Dell, but they are trying to rid themselves of the consumer end of financing by looking for potential outs with Dell Financial Services. It does make sense. Let's see what happens within the coming week. It should be noteworthy.

If Dell is really aiming to pull out of the consumer division, this will do nothing more than signal the beginning of the end. Though statistically it represents less than 15% of their client base, according to them, it is 15% that they can't afford to lose. Cutting off the consumer division would be Dell's open admission that they don't matter, and never did because they aren't interested in fixing what's broken, they'd rather just cut it off and be done with it.

Well, if you look at the recent conference call, we have about 2000 people in the states to go (at a minimum) to meet the target that was set June 1st 2007. Is Friday memorable?

What do investors do when a business promises to release "X" amount in a certain timeframe and ony releases "X" minus 2000 in that timefreame?

I guess Dell never has lied before and now that we did not make that 8800 - will we be caught in our first lie? (ha, ha)...

Or will there be a mad dash in the last few minutes?

I'm ready and willing to go!
