Word is there were some cuts in the Austin area last Friday, don't know the specifics but they managed to keep it under the news media radar.
Employees have been given some extra time to complete their Performance Plans so that may be a sign there are more to come. I heard they were originally due the first of May but now have the deadline of the end of May. Can anyone confirm this or share their thoughts as to why they would do this?
If Michael is going to hit last year goal of 10% or 8,800 and then a midyear goal of more gone then there's got to be a big one around the corner. The question is which month, which week, which day and how many at one time? Until these questions are answered productivity is probably at a stand still. If history repeats itself I bet there are loads of people coming in late, leaving early, taking two hour lunches, doing nothing in between and breathing a sigh of relief when they have made another week without a tap on the shoulder and someone saying "hey you got a minute"?
Best of luck to everyone! |

I am predicting that any new lay offs will occur right before Dell reports their first quarter earnings on May 29th. The reason I say this is Dell wants to try to stabilize/increase their stock price. Based on previous lay offs when Dell makes them, the shareholders bump up the price. I believe it will be a different story this time around though. I think the stock will either stay stagnant or decrease. If the lay offs do not occur before May 29th then I would estimate they will start up again in July which is the last month of Q2.
These are my thoughts based on previous actions by Dell. Purely speculation and not based on any inside information. |

| I don't think that the bleeding will stop anytime soon at Dell. I will e-mail some of my friends in my old department and see what is going on. I hope that none of them ends up biting the bullet. |

| Dell doesn't have a lot of blood left these days, but I agree that the bloodloss will continue for some time yet. |

You know why? - so that Bill Lumberg's stock will go up a 1/4 of a point."

| Large boxes of employee files have been reported seen stacked up in HR in Round Rock. If you have vacation or sick days- use them or loose them. Caution- the paperwork is done. Only the meeting is left. Trust me, you would rather be out on sick leave than to hear those idiot savants explain the needs of the business as they hand you your pink slip. |

Any updates on those boxes of emp files in HR in RR? Are they still there?
Since there has been no chatter lately - I presume we are in the Quiet Period before the storm? _________________ Released in 2008! |

For the most part, I enjoy my job but I am tired of having the layoff threat hanging over my head all of the time. It is distracting and takes away from any sense of value (false or otherwise) that I may feel the company has for me. It is belittling and insulting IMO
Just do it and get it over with. |
