Any more word on those employee files / severance pacakges in RR?
I have been out of pocket and could not talk to my three contacts as of yet and want to see if there has been movement...
I hear the ax has fallen on some of my comrads in RR...

What area or maybe areas were hit? If the rumors of 60% cuts is true I'd suspect we're going to start hearing of groups of people being walked out. |

I visit this site often to read but thought I would share this as I am being affected.
I wish it was quiet in RR but as of Tuesday the Executive Support Team a.k.a CRC/ESR(when customer complain to corporate, or to the legal, BBB, AG, M.Dell, or any other execs or to corporate communications). They will be let go at anytime from now until the end of the month. This is not a rumor guys. If a job is not found soon within Dell you will be getting a severance unless told you were among the handfull(small) they decided to keep or you were not up to snuff to even get a severance.
Unfortunatly the jobs are not going to Brazil as previously predicated by someone else but will be sent to Bangalore. They are only keeping a small group of people for legal and agency(BBB, AG,) issues. So although 90% of the complaints is about talking to overseas reps that is exactly whom they will get when they write a letter or send and email to the company.
There will be life after Dell and I am taking my package (12 years of service) and moving on. I have had a good run and now will get on with my life and less stress. Not sure of others that may be affected in RR but we will be tapped on the shoulder anyday now from the HR Generalist to finalize and sign things.

No not surprised most of us finally exhaled b/c at least we know instead of it being a surprise like that last lay off in January 2008 and previously in August 2007 in our dept. No more what if's and the grim reaper hanging above. The morale hit the tank with the last one in January. Most people are rushing to take that vaca before they turn the light off on us. This "Young Apprentice" has been out meditating on what my future holds, have come to the conclusion that my fate lies in the hands of the Force, and I am intrigued by what I have heard here...

Would they let go of some with a package and at the same time let go of others without? Would they do that knowing the people are networked together and most likely communicate what they did or in the case above did not receive?

Padawan in my 12 years at Dell bypassing several layoffs just b/c they did a layoff did not mean 100% that everyone was getting one. I knew some in the past that were laid off and was so happy to be and then was told its w/o severance. I imagine if someone was a repeat trendsetter of leaving every friday, LOA's, PIP's etc they chances may be slimmer. But with that said I have seen people slack at work and are low performers get a package. I guess it depends on the powers that be.
You just never know and once they tell you yes or no and its over with they could care less if you communicate, network etc. The deal has been done. So I am taking mine and will utilize it to help my family. Bling Bling cars and Plasma's or buying up the farm are not the answer. Kind of sad some people uttered these words when they were told. Be smart about it I told them. Dont try and live beyond your means on a severance please. LOL.

They are hitting all groups in all divisions in Round Rock and other area's.
Round Rock to be hit the hardest.
It is to be the largest layoff here ever. The group I am in will lose 75 folks in the next few days matter of time we have been told.
It was confirmed that 4000 in finance will also be let go next week.
Order processing is being hit as well.
Sales in home is being hit also.
Smaller groups are also and have been hit already.
Not clear myself what is going on with the company but there is no logic to what they are doing at this time unless Dell is really in that much trouble. |
