Speaking of getting fired for shitty reasons... I tried to forward an e-mail home for the 2nd time since I started at Dell, and I got randomly audited doing it. Now Global Investigations is involved and read the e-mail I sent. It was about our policies that I pulled form an internal site.

Hopefully this isn't going to happen, I'll keep you all posted.

Any ideas?

Dude... you learned that hard way that everything is sychn-up like the East German Stassi security police at Dell. So... do the low-tech thing, copy your email to a Word or Text file, manually transfer it to your keychain FLASH drive... walk straight out the front door with no worries.

keychain FLASH drive
A few frames back in this thread, somebody got fired for having a flash drive in the building. Seems those are prohibited too.

Do the REALLY low-tech thing, print it on paper and pocket it. As far as I know, Dell hasn't outlawed paper...yet.

2001 - Michael is quoted as saying "we will not have any more layoffs" - within weeks, we managers had to walk hundreds of people.

Since Summer of 2007 Dell has laid off 100-300+ people each week. Last week in excess of 1500 employees were laid off... shouldn't Dell have to answer to someone?

Dell has open postings... I have friends who are laid off, then are asked to interview somewhere else inside of Dell within a couple of weeks... and that's ok or good because??

Execs lie - the tell manager and subordinates what the numbers have to be, and it's the responsibility of the "reporter" to make the calculations equal that number.

Look at TV's... when it was said that logistics would be a problem, people would want to touch and feel - the execs ignored the "workers" - TV's Failed.

Service levels, finances - all lies - they include only those numbers that will look good.

Outsourcing - ahhh

Adding a call center, two years later, deleting said call center - money wasted

Reps you can't understand because they are from India or South America..

Asian buyers who don't know what they are doing - but by gosh, we're saving money

Outsourcing technology and R&D to asian countries - Dell is not Loyal.

Dell is not loyal to it's employees, or it's customers.

Dell has already screwed so many in the last month or so, that I wouldn't be surprised that is planning to move offshore. For all we know, this could've been planned for years. They may already have new sites underway in 3rd world communities for better wages, just as they have in the past while firing many at a time in the U.S.

Here is the matter at hand:

While our somewhat stagnant business queues will remain firm in their current locations, it is anticipated we will find other suitable sites for further capability. This opens new doors for communication and more possibilities when it comes to financial distribution for Dell.

As we seek to make our company the forefront in technology, we should be able to progress into this expansion over the next year. Dell will be undertaking the most progressive changes seen in a corporation of our size in history. We will also be considered the largest computer hardware provider to root in 3rd world countries to date. This global compassion will promote our success to newer locations.

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING DELL

Don't think this is the end of the carnage. Consumer was walked on Jan 31st in OKC. When I got to my desk in SMB on Friday, Feb 1st, I had just sat down and logged in when the SMB sales manager grabbed me and took me to a back room, with "guards" posted. HR was there along with the center manager to give me my walking papers.

I hadn't even gotten out of my 90 days yet. I am glad I was hired to help them get through Q4. Made my day since now I get to start a new job hunt all over again.

I asked Mike Carey why he was walking me out the side door. "Don't want to disconcert the masses?" I asked. His reply was that it was out of respect. It certainly wasn't out of respect for me or the other 11 people who were walked that day.

I also asked him when they were shutting down the OKC site. He replied that he wasn't privy to that information. Stand by OKC, I think the contract with OKC is expiring and the site will be closed. I could be wrong, just like I was wrong to decide to go to work for a vampire like Dell.

Of course they're going to downsize and then close all of the North American call centers. These corporations are bailing out like rats on a sinking ship. They know the economy is going to completely collapse and the luting and rioting will make this area unfit to do business in. Don't worry the carbon tax funded UN storm troopers will bring peace back to the area. We would never accept the NAU nor Amero unless something like this happens. So it makes sense that they're moving to the Philippines. I think they're going to do it in phases though. A few thousand here a call center there while training more and more in the Philippines to make up for the loss of manpower.

it's all about profit. mike's profit. not anyone else's. he would cut his own throat to make a profit. watch. you'll see. he's a CEO who has no clue what is going on under him. HR always loses stuff so they can fire you. you notice, dell is only in 'right-to-work' states. that's so when they do lose something, it's not their fault. a true working CEO knows what goes on in their company. it could eventually get to a point where no one in this country could afford to buy a freaking Dell since all work is outsourced to cheaper countries and everyone here has NO job. payroll will eventually reset itself. take a look at the auto makers. (i'm a union supporter, always will be, dad gave us a good life because of them). The unions have jacked up wages to the point where they have caused the prices of the autos to be an average now of over 30,000 (US). the so called average person can't afford this. what happened? auto sales slowed over the last few years. now, unions don't have the hold they did at one time. on the flip side, dell at one time tried to pay a decent wage for someone to make a living. what happened? mike got greedy. he surrounded hiself with idiots who he didn't need to hire anyway. i mean, how many VP's do you really need? then mike in his sheer stupidity decided to start a price war. uh, stupid. a true business person would show the WORTH of their product as compared to the competition and prove to the public, you get what you pay for. instead, no, he blundered in this move. he blundered in saying RAMBUS was the next big thing and he bought an ass load of the company. this goes to show, mike doesn't do his 'due dilligence' in anything. he follows what everyone around him is doing. back to the point. what will happen is that mike will want to keep his and his VP's pay protected, he'll cut whomever he needs to cut and hire someone else in to do the job cheaper. there will ALWAYS be someone out there willing to work for Dell Inc for $10 an hour. always. and when enough are willing to work for $10 an hour, that brings down the payscale for that job. lower overhead = higher bonus for the CEO and VP's. it's that simple. do i have an answer? no, i really don't. no one on the board of directors will tell mike he's wrong. you guys as share holders, my advice, VOTE when that proxy comes in. vote against the current board of directors. each one of them. it's a start. it's not the complete answer. let's face it, dell has a good product for the most part. businesses buy the snot out of them. but in all honesty, something needs to be done with mike. he's the leader, he's a failure, he's lost, and he has no idea that those things on a fork are called tines. he can't speak in public, he's a leader who can't really lead. he said he wanted to be the wal-mart of computers. yet did he consult with Sam Walton? no. did he take the time to learn how wal-mart does business? no. no one should do anything without first calculating the costs.
i've said enough. to those fired, sorry. but don't even think you'll get anywhere with a lawsuit. all records regarding you are likely fudged or lost. oh, one more thing. if you've had different titles, when someone uses the work number to verify your employment, all they will get is your very last title and dell will NOT in any way shape or form, verify ANY of your other titles or functions within the company. there's a real nice guy for you.

A 'true working CEO' was Mort Topfler. Dell hasn't had one for 10 years, and they aren't even in the market for one.

Wouldn't matter if they were. Anyone who knows the distinction would not go to work for Dell.

10:1 odds 2000+ people laid off B4 Valentines Day. Still 500 people to go to make the prediction accurate. Is Friday D day? How do we track the PIP's and false firings? Senior sources are calling for a major round of layoffs at the end of the week. I hope I am not correct.

Going with the history of Layoffs, I say you are correct...

They always have one big round and then another round right after... in between times there is always a quiet period... I wanted to post last week: Are we in that quiet period between the rounds? However I did not due to being a little busier than normal - covering for those recently departed. It appears we are in that quiet period...

We have all been hearing before Feb14 or the 28th which is the yearly anmnouncements... so I do believe that we are in that quiet period... and just days before, we get some rumors... so with your sources, I feel that this will happen next week... now, to the extent - will it be bigger than that of a week and half ago - who knows...

The layoffs are correct! I just got walked after pondering whether I should apply for new jobs here. Four others got kicked out the side door with me earlier today... I felt the dark cloud when I woke up to go to work, but shook it off, unfortunately.

Anyways, what's done is done. I would like to look into the lawsuits about overtime, since it is inherent that Dell screws us- so why not do something back if you can???

Another source of mine is saying the whole business side in OKC is being looked at under a microscope. I wonder if the entire place is going up in flames? So if I hear anything new, I'll try to let you all know.

Peace out everyone

I'll try to get someone I know, that is still in OKC, to talk about it. I just e-mailed him and hopefully he'll respond, since I haven't talked to him in awhile. Maybe I got the wrong address?

Well at least there is no more suspense for you... but I don't blame you for wanting true retaliation when you are blindsided like that. I'll try to give you guys as much anonymous insight that I can for it.

Take care friend... sorry to hear the bad news...
